Camera Cases Camouflaged As Briefcases, Purses to Ward off Would Be Thieves
The new digital camera cases have been designed not to look like a camera carrying bag or draw attention to the fact that you’re carrying an expensive camera and its equipment. Many new companies are offering shoulder style bags that look more like a woman’s purse or a man’s briefcases in order to help deter would-be camera thieves.
Many years ago, numerous photojournalists used to adjust regular bags to fit their cameras in order to go ‘incognito’ into situations where they needed to be but cameras were not allowed. Countless manufacturers learned from these photojournalists about adapting ordinary looking bags to accommodate cameras and photographic equipment. The results are very pleasing yet practical, purse-like or briefcase-like over the shoulder bags, bookbags and backpacks that allow a photographer to safely and securely carry their camera and photography equipment wherever they need to go without drawing attention to themselves or the fact that they are carrying cameras and camera equipment.
Manufacturers have designed these camera cases for both the professional and amateur photographers. Professional photographers often do not want to draw attention to themselves in order to capture the story in pictures and amateur photographers are usually worried their expensive camera equipment may be stolen when they are not looking.
Perhaps the least noticeable style of camera case would be the backpack because no one would suspect it is full of camera equipment and an expensive camera. Many of the new backpack camera bags have separate compartments for all the accessories and straps to hold everything in place. Some of the straps have locking snaps while others use Velcro to hold everything in its place. All of the new camera cases, no matter what the style, are designed using padded thermal covered foam which helps to protect the delicate electronic equipment. A camera bag is a personal choice of the photographer and what would work best for them in whatever situation they find themselves in.
Whether you’re a photojournalist traveling the far ends of the earth or an amateur photographer vacationing in Italy, the right camera case will help deter would-be camera thieves and keep your expensive equipment safe.
