A video game manufacturing company could use search engine optimization or SEO in order to gain more customers to their website.

Search engine optimization is the act of placing keyword rich articles on a website in order to attract the three major search engines – Yahoo!, MSN and Google.  These major search engines send out “feelers” in order to find the keywords or keyword phrases and then rank the websites according to a special formula.  Keywords or keyword phrases are the words potential customers use in the search boxes on the search engines in order to find what they need or want.

 A video game tester is someone who tests video games for the video game manufacturers to make sure that there are no glitches or problems with the video games.  Video game manufacturers want a cross-section of the public to play their video games and test them for releasing them to the general public just as movie theaters often have special movie screenings for a certain select group of people before a movie is released.

A video game tester could use the search boxes on the search engines to find a job as a video game tester simply by placing the word video game tester in the search box because this would be the same keyword phrase the video game manufacturer would use when looking for a video game tester.

Keyword rich articles could be placed not only on the original video game manufacturer’s website but also on additional websites in an article in exchange to increase the customer database and raise the ranking on the search engine website.  An article exchange between the video game manufacturer and another website will bring more customers to both websites in addition to raising each of their search engine rankings.  An article exchange for search engine optimization purposes does not necessarily have to be with a relevant website; in other words an article exchange could be done between the video game manufacturing company and a company that will compare airlines for travelers.

 Search engine optimization is always in place so it matters not where a keyword rich article is placed as long as the website address is attached to the keyword rich article so that the keywords and the website combination go through the special formula of the three major search engines.  It is beneficial for a business to have a high ranking on the major search engines because the majority of people who use search engines choose from the first several listings rather than go hunting for a specific listing further down the webpages.  For example, a hearing aids company might one day have a high ranking on the search engine webpages and the next day have a much lower ranking because the competition has more keyword rich articles placed around the Internet.

Search engine optimization is helpful for both those looking for a job and those offering a job.
