green hotelsThe first thing a green hotels company should do is have an Internet presence in addition to their real-world brick-and-mortar location.  This is because more people look to the Internet for what they need or want before looking to any other media, including the phonebook.  Having a web presence means more than a website with information on location and hours of operation.  A web presence means being able to sell things online, and if your company does not sell items then allow customers to make reservation through an online reservations program.

A green travel company could bring more customers to their website using search engine optimization or SEO over any other marketing technique.  Search engine optimization is placing keyword rich articles on a website in order for the three major search engines – MSN, Yahoo!, and Google – that send out “feelers” in order to find the keywords or keyword phrases and then rank the website according to a special formula.  Keywords or keyword phrases are the words customers use in the search boxes on the search engines to find what they need or want.  Having a keyword rich article on a main webpage in addition to other websites will help a company’s search engine ranking continue to rise on the search engine pages.  Having a high ranking on the search pages is desirable for a company because more people choose from the first few listings on the search page rather than look through several pages of website listings.

Since search engine optimization is always the same keyword rich article that was placed on the original website of the business, it could also be placed on other websites including themed blogs for Internet news websites.  Blogs are no longer thought of merely as online diaries but as places businesses can introduce their products and services to a whole new crop of potential customers.  Themed blogs such as how to save money, green vacation or how to save money while remaining green would all be an appropriate blogs to place a keyword rich article about green travel.

Internet news website are often overlooked by businesses as places to market their business to potentially new customers.  Internet news websites are often looking for well-written informative articles that may or may not have something to do with news.  As long as they are well written and informative, an Internet news website will accept a keyword rich article; therefore your business will increase its customer database while raising its search engine ranking.

Another place search engine optimization works is through an article exchange with another website that may or may not be relevant to green travel.  For example, a green travel article could be written about how a couple made money at their local pawn shop in order to fund their green vacation.  This article could then be used on the pawn shop’s website in addition to being placed on the green travel website.

Search engine optimization is an important marketing tool for every website on the Internet.
